2 out of 5 stars Not as advertised   July 26, 2010
Chris Thompson
How do you review a product like this? It either is what it says, or it isn't. In my case, it wasn't. It was advertised as a 12 month +1 card. When I activated it, I only got a 12 month subscription and there was no information anywhere on how to get the bonus month. Be warned.

Xbox 360 Gold membership for 1 year...best price I could find...thanks Amazon.
Great deal...why do they waste the money on all the packaging?

A must have for Xbox 360 owners.

5 out of 5 stars Best feature on Xbox!   July 26, 2010
T. Franceschi
Bought the Xbox only to play Live! The best feature ever; once you have real opponents, the game experience gets to a whole new level; it's also fun to chat with friends while playing;
Once, in olders consoles, you needed a multitap device to connect 8 controllers and have a multiplayer game; I've had those multitaps, and used no more than a couple times, because it was really difficult to have all this people at home; now, you can have multiplayer game any time you want, with all your friends, without having them to come over to your place; I can play online with lots of friends any weekday at night, without having to worry that I'll need to work the day after; whenever I feel tired, I just turn off my console and go to bed; Does it get any more confortable than that??

If you have used Xbox Live before, you know what are you getting into with this product. You can play games online, buy rent and watch movies, use social applications, etc etc. You get what you pay for, and here that is not a bad thing at all...especially if you can catch it on sale. It enhances the Xbox playing experience to a great degree I have found. You can live without it, but once you've had it, you'll want to keep your subscription updated. It's good times.

4 out of 5 stars Best Price for Live   July 20, 2010

Xbox Live is not free like PlayStation Network, but there is a reason they make you pay for it. Xbox 360 was designed with online gaming in mind, and as such Xbox has the most robust online gaming features of any console. Hooking up with friends is easy, creating and joining parties and games is a breeze, and since every Xbox comes packaged with a headset, you know you'll be able to communicate with other players, which is a big deal for online games.

Gold members get access to demos early, features such as Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, Netflix, and more, plus access to the best online gaming service around. I have both an Xbox and a PS3, and the online service and features on Xbox are far superior to PS3. The speed and connection on Xbox is better, with far less lag and dropped games than PS3.

Now, Xbox Live can get expensive, so the best value for your money is the prepaid 12 month card. For starters, a 12 month card costs less per month than the 1 or 3 month cards. Second, if you buy a card you don't run the risk of being overcharged with recurring payments. If you pay for Xbox Live through your Xbox by credit card, they will automatically renew your subscription when it expires without telling you, and continue to charge you until you call them. And they make it difficult to cancel. The prepaid card eliminates this headache and is much safer. Third, if you shop around, you can get the $50 card for much cheaper. I got the 12 month gold card for $30 from Amazon, which comes to $2.50 per month, plus no tax and no shipping cost.

If you want the best online experience you want Xbox Live, and if you want Xbox Live you want the prepaid card, and if you want the prepaid card, you want it from Amazon.
