Fantastic game with incredible multiplayer. The replayability factor was unparralelled at release. The follow up game Modern Warfare 2 is even better for multiplayer. (some would dispute that but this is my review after all)
Call of Duty 4 has an excellent single player experience as well.
Keep in mind this IS a violent game. There is blood and plenty of it. If that's not a problem for you then you will NOT be disappointed with this game.

I bought this game for my husband's birthday so he could play it on our new PS3. He is over 40 and the PS3 was our adult toy cause the kids have 3 other game systems so I wanted a adult system/game for us. Wasn't sure he was going to like it but he loves it. The game looks so real and it contains alot of killing and blood, not good for kids, but on our 46 inch lcd tv you would swear you where there. Many levels to game so it looks like you will never get bored and will take a while. It seems alot of money to me at first but now I see why, well worth the price.
